Using unique administrative register data, we investigate old-age retirement under the statutory pension scheme in Finland. The analysis is based on multi-outcome modelling of pensions and working lives together with a range explanatory variables. An adaptive LAD-lasso regression method applied to obtain estimates earnings socioeconomic factors affecting decide which these variables should be included our model. proposed statistical technique produces robust less biased coefficient context skewed outcome distributions an excess number zeros some results underline importance late life course employment final amount reveal differences outcomes across groups. We conclude that promising could usefully employed studying various topics industry. Relevance vector machine and multivariate adaptive regression spline for modelling ultimate capacity of pile foundation
This study examines the capability of the Relevance Vector Machine (RVM) and Multivariate Adaptive Regression Spline (MARS) for prediction of ultimate capacity of driven piles and drilled shafts. RVM is a sparse method for training generalized linear models, while MARS technique is basically an adaptive piece-wise regression approach. In this paper, pile capacity prediction models are developed...
An Adaptive Liner Regression Approach to Still Image Compression
Digital media compression introduces the advantages in storage and transmission. However, the compression procedures also take up computation time. This paper presents an adaptive regression method applied to the standard JPEG compression for archiving higher compression ratios. According to experiments on those popular images, the improvement in compression rate is about 8%, to 18%. Besides, a...
Simulation and Analysis of Adaptive Agents: an Integrative Modelling Approach
Agent-based simulation methods are a relatively new way to address complex systems. Usually the idea is that the agents used are rather simple, and the complexity and adaptivity of such a system are modelled by the interaction between these agents. However, another way to exploit agent-based simulation methods is by use of agents that themselves also have certain forms of learning or adaptation...
ESTIMATING DRYING SHRINKAGE OF CONCRETE USING A MULTIVARIATE ADAPTIVE REGRESSION SPLINES APPROACH
In the present study, the multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) technique is employed to estimate the drying shrinkage of concrete. To this purpose, a very big database (RILEM Data Bank) from different experimental studies is used. Several effective parameters such as the age of onset of shrinkage measurement, age at start of drying, the ratio of the volume of the sample on its drying...
Adaptive Approach for Modelling Variability in Pharmacokinetics
We present an improved adaptive approach for studying systems of ODEs affected by parameter variability and state space uncertainty. Our approach is based on a reformulation of the ODE problem as a transport problem of a probability density describing the evolution of the ensemble of systems in time. The resulting multidimensional problem is solved by representing the probability density w.r.t....
